It’s a hereditary demyelinating disorder in the same group of diseases as MS resulting in abnormal foot development and muscle atrophy and nerve damage. Severe cases can result in respiratory issues. There are many different kinds of CMT that affect the body differently and at different ages. It’s actually relatively common in the US.
